MAX196AEAI+

The MAX196AEAI+ is a multirange, single, 12bit data acquisition system (DAS) with 12bit bus interface in 28 pin SSOP package. The device provides six analogue input channels that are independently software programmable for variety of ranges including ±10V, ±5V, 0V to +10V and 0V to 5V. This range switching increases effective dynamic range to 14bit and provides flexibility to interface ±12V, ±15V and 4mA to 20mA powered sensors to a single +5V system. It includes software selectable internal/external clock, internal/external acquisition control, 12bit parallel interface and internal 4.096V or external reference. The MAX196A employs standard microprocessor (µP) interface. All logic inputs and outputs are TTL/CMOS compatible. It is typically used in industrial control systems, robotics, data acquisition systems, medical instruments, automatic testing systems and telecommunication applications.

• Supply voltage range is 4.75V to 5.25V, supply current of 18mA (normal mode, bipolar ranges)
• Operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C
• ±16.5V fault protected SAR ADC with software selectable input ranges
• 6μs conversion time (external CLK), PSRR of ±0.1LSB (external reference = 4.096V)
• Requires single +5V supply for operation and converts analogue signals at its inputs to ±10V
• Offset error of ±3LSB (unipolar) and ±5LSB (bipolar), total harmonic distortion of -85dB
• Internal or external acquisition control, fault protected input multiplexer
• Two power down modes, 5MHz bandwidth track/hold, 100Ksps throughput rate
• Integral nonlinearity (INL) of ±1/2LSB and differential nonlinearity (DNL) of ±1LSB
• Gain error of ±7LSB (unipolar) and ±7LSB (bipolar)
