Product Overview
TMC246B-PA is a highly efficient SPI or classic analogue interface stepper driver for two-phase bipolar motors with Stall Guard™. The TMC246 driver for two-phase stepper motors offers a competitive feature set, including 16x micro-stepping, sensorless mechanical load measurement with stall detection, and smart current control. Standard SPI™ and communication via external analogue and digital signals are available. It is a multichip package, integrating eight Low-RDS-ON high-efficiency MOSFETs for motor currents up to 1.5A (1.1A RMS) and up to 36V. Integrated protection and diagnostic features support robust and reliable operation. Application includes replacing classic bipolar driver ICs, office automation, printer and scanner, heliostat controller, ATM, cash recycler, POS, CCTV, security, antenna positioning, pumps and valves, lab automation, liquid handling, and medical.
- SPI and external analogue / digital signals, microstep resolution 16 microsteps using internal DACs
- Low power dissipation via low RDS-ON power stage, overvoltage/overtemp/short circuit protection
- Diagnostics overcurrent, open load, 2 level overtemperature
- Stall Guard™ sensorless stall detection and load measurement
- Mixed decay for smooth motor operation, slope control for reduced electromagnetic emissions
- Current control for cool motor and driver, standby and shutdown mode
- Voltage range from 7 to 36VDC, chopper clock frequency is 50KHz maximum
- Slope control resistor range from 0 to 110Kohm
- VCC supply current is 0.85mA typ (fosc = 25KHz, TJ = -40°C to 140°C)
- TQFP-44 package, junction temperature range from -40 to 150°C
