Product Overview
TMC5240ATJ+ is a 36V 2ARMS+ smart integrated stepper driver and controller. The TMC5240 is a smart high-performance stepper motor controller and driver IC with serial communication interfaces (SPI, UART) and extensive diagnostic capabilities. It combines a flexible, jerk-optimized ramp generator for automatic target positioning with industries’ most advanced stepper motor driver based on the 256 microsteps, built-in indexer and fully integrated 36V, 3.0AMAX H-Bridges plus non-dissipative integrated current sensing (ICS). High integration, high energy efficiency, and a small form factor enable miniaturized and scalable systems for cost-effective solutions. The complete solution reduces the learning curve to a minimum while giving best-in-class performance. Typical application are textile, sewing machines, knitting machines, lab and factory automation, 3D printers, ID printers/card printers, liquid handling, medical applications, office automation and paper handling.
- Voltage range from 4.5V to 36VDC, low RDS(ON) (HS + LS): 230mohm typical (TA = 25°C)
- CoolStep current control for energy savings up to 75%, passive braking and freewheeling mode
- Fully integrated lossless current sensing, motor phase temperature estimation
- Eight-point motion controller for minimum jerk, SPI and single wire UART
- Encoder interface and 2x reference switch input, chip temperature measurement
- Highest resolution 256 microsteps per full step, flexible wave table and phase shift to match motor
- StealthChop2 silent motor operation, SpreadCycle highly dynamic motor control chopper
- Jerk-free combination of StealthChop2 and SpreadCycle, general purpose analog input
- StallGuard2 and StallGuard4 sensorless motor load detection, full protection and diagnostics
- 32 TQFN package, temperature rating range from -40°C to +125°C
