Product Overview
The RN131G-I/RM481 from Microchip is a standalone, embedded wireless 802.11 b/g networking module with 4.81 firmware version. With its small form factor and extremely low power consumption, the RN-131G-I is perfect for mobile wireless applications such as asset monitoring, GPS tracking and battery sensors. The WiFly module incorporates a 2.4GHz radio, processor, TCP/IP stack, RTC, crypto accelerator, power management and analogue sensor interfaces. It is preloaded with software to simplify integration and minimize application development. In simplest configuration, the hardware requires only four connections (PWR, TX, RX & GND) to create wireless data connection. The sensor interface provides temperature, audio, motion, acceleration and other analogue data without requiring additional hardware. It is programmed and controlled with simple ASCII command language. Once the module is set up, it can scan to find an access point, associate, authenticate and connect over any Wi-Fi network.

- Ultra low power 4µA sleep, 40mA Rx, 210mA Tx, 3V to 3.7V supply voltage
- High throughput, 1Mbps sustained data rate with TCP/IP and WPA2
- Small, compact surface mount module with 2.402MHz to 2.480MHz frequency range
- Onboard ceramic chip antenna and U.FL connector for external antenna
- 8Mbit flash memory and 128KB RAM, UART hardware interface
- 10 general purpose digital I/O pins, 8 analogue sensor interfaces
- Real-time clock for wake-up and time stamping, accepts 3.3V regulated or 2V to 3V battery
- Supports ad hoc and infrastructure networking modes, host data rate up to 1Mbps for the UART
- Onboard ECOS -OS, TCP/IP stacks, Wi-Fi alliance certified for WPA2-PSK, FCC/CE/ICS certified
