Product Overview
VNC1L-1A-REEL is an embedded USB host controller IC. It handles USB host interface and data transfer functions and features an integrated 8/32-bit MCU and embedded flash memory, which allows it to efficiently manage various USB unit classes. Typical applications include adding USB host capability to embedded products, interfacing USB flash drives with MCUs, PLDs, or FPGAs, enabling file transfers between USB flash drives, connecting digital cameras to USB flash drives or other USB devices, and linking PDAs, MP3 players, or mobile phones to USB flash drives or other USB server devices. It is also suitable for interfacing GPS devices with mobile phones, integrating USB flash drives with instrumentation, and connecting data loggers or set-top boxes to USB devices. Additionally, it can be used for GPS trackers with USB flash disk storage.
- Two independent USB 2.0 Low-speed/Fullspeed USB host ports
- Configurable options to interface to external command monitor via either UART, FIFO or SPI interface
- Entire USB protocol handled on the chip, integrated pull-up and pull-down resistors
- Integrated FTDI proprietary, 8/32bit embedded MCU processor core VMCU using enhanced CISC technology
- Integrated, reconfigurable, 64k bytes of E-FLASH memory to store firmware - 4k bytes data RAM
- Field upgradeable firmware over UART or USB
- Integrated Numeric Co-Processor (NCP) enhances 32 bit arithmetic speeds
- Twin DMA controllers provide hardware acceleration of data transfer from USB to external IO bus
- Integrated firmware allows read from and write to FAT format USB Flash keys
- 48 pin LQFP package, ambient temperature range from -40 to 85°C
