Wireless power transfer (WPT): One key application for ferrite tiles is wireless power transfer, (WPT), for example in automotive and industrial applications. Ferrite material is used in tiles, plates, or pads in wireless power charging systems to increase system efficiency, by shielding and reflecting the magnetic field within the inductive transfer area. KEMET’s ferrite tiles are designed with the latest proprietary ferrite material technology to offer the highest charging efficiency.
Benefits include increased efficiency in high power WPT systems from 3.7 – 30.0 kW, high operating frequency range up to 1 MHz, operating temperature range from −40°C to +125°C, and low temperature rise with high magnetic flux density.
EMI reduction: Constructed from ultra-thin mixtures of iron, nickel and zinc oxides, Laird's ferrite cable cores are characterized by their size, light weight, low cost, and high reliability. They provide superb EMI reduction while remaining open to normal circuit operation.
Ferrite cores are used in a variety of applications. They are used as signal transformers in electronics such as AM radios and RFID tags. They are also used as power transformers in applications such as power supplies. Ferrite cores can also be used for suppressing EMI in cables. Ferrite core inductors are utilized as filters in switching power converters.
CPU EMI suppression: Ferrite plates that offer EMI suppression for CPUs are also available. Würth Elektronik’s WE-CPU EMI suppression CPU ferrite plates offer Impedances up to 800 Ω, initial permeability of 700 μiac, a Curie temperature of +140 °C max, and an operating temperature of –25°C to +125°C.
