Product Overview
MAX3480EAEPI+ is a electrically isolated RS-485/RS-422 data-communications interface. The RS-485/RS-422 I/O pins are protected against ±15kV electrostatic discharge (ESD) shocks, without latchup. Drivers are short-circuit current limited and are protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver outputs into a high-impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a logic-high output if the input is open circuit. It is used in applications such as isolated RS-485/RS-422 data interface, transceivers for EMI-sensitive applications, industrial-control local area networks, automatic test equipment, HVAC/building control networks, telecom.
- Isolated data interface guaranteed to 1260VRMS (1min), ±15kV ESD protection for I/O pins
- Current limiting and thermal shutdown for driver overload protection, 2500Kbps data rate
- Switch frequency is 60KHz typical at (VCC = +3.3V and TA = +25°C)
- Operating supply current is 130mA typical at (VCC = +3.3V and TA = +25°C)
- Shutdown supply current is 0.2µA typical at (VCC = +3.3V and TA = +25°C)
- Isolation capacitance is 10pF typical at (VCC = +3.3V and TA = +25°C)
- Receiver input resistance is 48Kohm minimum at (-7V ≤ VCM ≤ 12V)
- Receiver input hysteresis is 70mV typical at (VCC = +3.3V and TA = +25°C)
- Driver input to output propagation delay is 100ns typ at (RDIFF = 54ohm, CL1 = CL2 = 100pF)
- Operating temperature range from -40°C to + 85°C, 28-pin PDIP package
