Product Overview
The MAX3320ACAP+ is a true RS232 transceiver with 4μA AutoShutdown Plus and power-on reset in 20 pin SSOP package. It combines microprocessor (μP) supervisory circuit with an RS-232 transceiver. The power-on reset performs single function that is it asserts a reset signal whenever the VCC supply voltage declines below preset threshold, staying asserted for at least 100ms after VCC rises above reset threshold. The MAX3320A has an active-low RESET output which needs to be in the correct state for VCC down to 1V. The reset comparator is designed to ignore fast transients on VCC. This transceiver has low dropout transmitter output stage which enables true RS232 performance with dual charge pump powered from 3V to 5.5V supply. A 4μA supply current is achieved with AutoShutdown Plus feature. The device requires only four small 0.1μF external charge pump capacitors and it runs at data rates of up to 250Kbps.

- Active-low RESET output voltage of 0.4V (ISINK = 3.2mA, VCC = reset threshold)
- Receivers and power-on reset are always active
- Transmitter skew of 100ns and receiver skew of 200ns
- Power supply current of 0.45mA and shutdown supply current of 4μA
- Transition region slew rate of 30V/μs at CL = 150pF to 1000pf
