Product Overview
MAX33070EASA+ is a RS-485 half-duplex transceiver with ±65V fault protection. This fault-protected RS-485/RS-422 transceiver with high ±65V protection for overvoltage conditions on the communication bus lines, ensuring robust protection in harsh industrial environments. It also incorporates a high ESD protection circuit capable of protecting against ±40kV of ESD human body model (HBM) for driver outputs and receiver inputs (A and B data lines). This device contains one driver and one receiver and operates over the +3V to +5.5V supply range, making it convenient for designers to use one part with either +3.3V or +5V supply voltages across multiple end equipment. This device features a receiver enable active-low (RE) input that allows for a low-current shutdown state. It is used in applications such as industrial automation equipment, home and building automation, agriculture and heavy machinery, power supply and UPS, elevator control, motion controllers.

- True fail-safe guarantees known receiver output state
- Supply voltage range from 3.3V and 5.0V
- 1/8 unit load for up to 256 devices on the bus
- Compliant with RS-485 EIA/TIA-485 standard
- Supply current is 6mA typical at (VCC = 3.0V to 3.6V and VCC = 4.5V to 5.5V)
- Shutdown supply current is 4μA typical at (VCC = 3.0V to 3.6V and VCC = 4.5V to 5.5V)
- Driver propagation delay is 50ns typical at (RL = 54ohm, CL = 50pF)
- Receiver propagation delay is 130ns typical at (CL = 15pF, TA = +25°C)
- Operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C, 8-lead SO package
