Product Overview
MAX33053EASA+ is a +3.3V CAN (control area network) transceiver with integrated protection for industrial applications. This device has extended ±65V fault protection for equipment where overvoltage protection is required. It also incorporates high ±25kV ESD HBM and an input common-mode range (CMR) of ±25V, exceeding the ISO11898 specification of -2V to +7V. It is well-suited for applications that are in electrically noisy environments where the ground planes are shifting relative to each other. It features a variety of options to address common CAN application requirements; logic-level supply input VL for interfacing with 1.62V to 3.6V logic, low-current standby mode, silent mode to disable the transmitter, and a slow slew rate to minimize EMI. It is used in applications such as programmable logic controller, industrial automation, building automation, instrumentation, smart grid equipment, drone, motor control.

- Thermal shutdown, slow slew rate to minimize EMI, silent mode S disables transmitter
- STBY Input for low-current mode, slow slew rate, 1.62V to 3.6V logic-supply (VL) range
- Supply voltage range from 3.0V to 3.6V, dominant supply current is 4.5mA typical
- Recessive supply current is 3.6mA typical at (VDD = TXD = 3.3V, no load)
- Standby supply current is 33μA typical at (STBY = logic high, TA = +25°C)
- Short-circuit current is 2mA typical at (TXD = 0V, CANH = -65V, TA = +25°C)
- Slow slew driver rise time is 315ns typical at (RL = 60 ohm, CLD = 100pF, RCM is open)
- TXD propagation delay (recessive to dominant) is 43ns typ at (RL = 60 ohm, CL = 100pF, RCM is open)
- Operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C, 8-lead SO package
